Who is held at Smith?

Smith is the Riverside County Sheriff’s largest jail. It holds people from across the county, including people who were first booked at Cois M. Byrd in Murrieta or Robert Presley in Riverside and later moved here. Many cases from Hemet and the surrounding area are heard at the Banning Justice Center, a short drive from the jail.

How to find someone at Smith

  1. Search the Riverside County Sheriff’s online inmate locator with the person’s last name (and first name or date of birth if you have it).
  2. Write down the booking number and the facility shown. You will need the booking number for bail, visits, mail and money.
  3. If you can’t find them, or the record doesn’t show which jail, call us at 888-669-0295 and we will check for free.

  4. We post the bond. Release time depends on how busy the jail is; we tell you what to expect when we post the bond and keep you updated until your loved one is out.
